Owners - Friends of the Environment
Helping to minimise the world's ecological footprint is EVERYONE'S responsibility.

Today, owners and guests of tourist accommodation already feel the need to adopt a number of sustainability-orientated actions aimed at reducing their environmental impact.

These initiatives include:

- Implementing energy-efficient practices such as: using LED lighting, energy-efficient household appliances; switching off electronic equipment or heating when not in use.

- Encouraging proper waste management by separating and recycling materials and placing organic waste in the appropriate containers.

- Encouraging people to pick up their own rubbish during walks and hikes, emphasising that nothing but footprints should be left in nature.

- Promote sustainable mobility by making bicycles available to guests or suggesting hire companies, as well as promoting walking and the use of public transport.

- Create green spaces and adopt sustainable building technologies, such as installing solar panels.

- Encourage the saving of water, an increasingly scarce commodity and essential for life.

- Implement and encourage the use of reusable and recyclable materials and objects.

Guests have a fundamental role to play in environmental responsibility and, above all, in helping to reduce the ecological footprint:

- Don't flush sanitary towels, wipes and nappies down the toilet.

- Try not to interfere with the local ecosystem by not collecting objects or materials from nature.

- Observe animals from a distance and do not frighten them or interfere with their well-being.

- Prioritise local products and services in order to stimulate the local economy: prefer to consume in shops and restaurants that are run by residents and use local products.

- Value the local cultural, archaeological and historical heritage by talking to local people.

Because together we can all protect our home, Planet Earth, and be part of the collective effort to make change happen!
